The Royal Chiang Mai Golf Club and Resort was designed by Peter Thompson, five times British Open Champion. The design is reminiscent of a traditional British Parkland course with some interesting “links” additions. The course is heavily tree-lined and water hazards are in play on almost every hole. The “Rough” is true to the meaning of the word.
From the very back “blue” tees the course measures over 7,200 yards and can be a severe test, but from the men’s “white” tees the course is pleasant and relaxing.
The par 4, 4th is an absolute brute of a hole, playing at 440 yards from the back tees and uphill all the way. Not a hole for the faint hearted. This hole is an exception as the key to scoring well, points more towards accuracy than length.
The only thing about this golf course is the greens are generally slow compared to most of the courses in Chiang Mai however, do not let that put you off.
